Administrator and Trainer

An important point to remember in the preparation of training sessions is the distinction of roles between administrator and trainer.

The administrator, as we have seen, has access to all functionalities and all scopes, both regarding users and regarding question banks.

Some users may have the authorization corresponding to the creation and modification of training sessions. They will be able to act as an administrator at this level, for the question banks and for the users who are within their scope.

The trainer, for his part, is the conductor of his training session but does not, in principle, need any other specific rights in ExperQuiz.

Responsibilities of the Administrator

The administrator (or a user with equivalent authorizations regarding training) is responsible for defining and preparing the training session, which means:

  • Creating the training session, defining its characteristics, and indicating who the trainer is
  • Gathering the questionnaires and educational materials (documents/media) that will be used in the training
  • Defining and inviting participants to the training

The administrator is also authorized to do everything that the trainer can do.

The administrator has a button that allows them to switch to "trainer mode," meaning to take the place of a trainer.

Responsibilities of the Trainer

The trainer, for his part, can:

  • Indicate which participants are present
  • Provide participants with a questionnaire or document at the time he deems appropriate
  • Submit evaluations to participants and review the results
  • Communicate in chat mode with participants and see the participants' mood
  • Use the so-called Blackboard features to facilitate his training
  • Consult the various summary pages of results and events of the training
  • Request an attendance sheet from the trainees
  • Launch the evaluation cycle of the training to the participants.

The distinction of roles is important. For example, consider the management of questionnaires. There may be, in the question bank, questionnaires that one does not wish to share with the trainer. The trainer does not have access to all the questionnaires in the bank (and not to all the questions, of course). It is therefore up to the administrator (or a user with the required authorizations) to indicate which questionnaires can be used in the training. The same goes for documents and media.
